Trusting God
You hear it said all the time, “just trust God and don’t worry about it”. Well what in the world does that mean? And just how in the world do you not worry about something that is a pretty big deal? I don’t have the answer but I do have something that I think will help.
In order for you not to worry about something or to give something up you have visit a place I like to call “the place of vulnerability”. Well what is that place? Do you remember when Jesus sent out his 12 disciples? Well in the Gospel of Matthew 10:16 Jesus said to them, “I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves”. NIV. And even before that he told them not to take any money, no bag for the journey, no shoes or even a staff. Man, what were they supposed to do? I don’t know about you but I am pretty sure that I would have been worried about what I was going to be eating or drinking and even where I would be sleeping.
Now my question is why would God want to send his beloved out like sheep among wolves? He wanted them to rely on him to supply and provide for them. Do you believe that God wants to take care of you and he wants you to have prosperity, which means provision for the journey? Do you really? If you do, than it shouldn’t be so hard to trust God. When we rely on God for things we are saying to him that we trust him to lead us and direct us into the places we will find blessings and safety. When you are relying on God that does not mean you have the right to be idle. Notice Jesus SENT them out. They were in action but vulnerable at the same time! We leave the place of vulnerability when we start making decisions on our own without consulting God. He knows what is best for you!
Being vulnerable does not mean that you are incapable of doing anything. We have the mind of Christ! So therefore we can think and dwell on the things of God. Being vulnerable means being willing to strip ourselves down of all the extra “Christian” things such as a staff or shoes and say that we are willing to expose ourselves for the sake of God. Vulnerability is not incapability. You allow God to lead you into a lost world that is full of wolves and you will face some rocky times. But trust that God is your protection and that you will be an over comer of every situation!
