God is Steadfast

Ps 111:6-8 He has shown his people the power of his works, giving them the lands of other nations. 7 The works of his hands are faithful and just; all his precepts are trustworthy. 8 They are steadfast for ever and ever, done in faithfulness and uprightness - NIV

Have you ever thought about how different your emotions are from day to day? Now I am talking to the guys too! It has always amazed me how I can go from being on top of the world one day and then suddenly be throwing the biggest pity party the next day. Do you ever find yourself making decisions based on the emotions you are feeling? I know I do. That is why it is a good habit to meditate and ponder about decisions in our lives rather than be impulsive. This has been a hard lesson for me to learn.

I am thankful that God does not make his decisions based upon emotions. The Bible says that he is the same yesterday today and forever. God's character never changes. The things that describe God's actions are faithfulness and uprightness. You can know that if you feel God leading you in a direction or if you feel that God may be disciplining you (Heb 12:5, 6), you can know that he is doing it because he loves you and because it is the right thing for you. God is always faithful! He is always upright! He is always holy! And He will be that way for ever and ever! The things that are happening in your life right now are not happening by chance nor are they happening because God's emotions toward you have changed. He was emotional enough to send His Son to die in your place; that same feeling of love still beams at us today!

I want you to know this week that God has a plan for you. He is faithful to carry that plan out until the day it is completed. God's nature and his character will never change. You can approach God in the midst of all your emotions and know that He will be the stability you need to carry on.
